How to measure your ring size?

Measuring a ring size is essential to get yourself a ring that fits perfectly on your finger, as a loose or a tight ring can be really uncomfortable. But don’t worry, there are many ways to measure your ring size and none of them are difficult at all. Let’s not consume the time any further and get to the point. Follow the steps ahead to measure the ring size for your finger.

Method 1:

Using the Thread / Ribbon / Paper method to find the circumference of the ring:

Things you need:

Ruler/Scale
Thread / Strip of paper / Ribbon
Marker / Pen
Ring sizing chart (Given below)
Finger (Obviously)

Process:

Step 1: Select a finger on which you would like to wear a ring

Step 2: Take the thread / Strip of paper / Ribbon and wrap it firmly around your selected finger, near to the knuckles where you wear your ring

Step 3: Now carefully mark the exact point with the marker, where the thread overlaps the other edge of the thread. You have to do it accurately, in order to get the right measurement in the next step.

Step 4: Measure the marked part of the thread/paper with the cm side of the ruler. This is the circumference of your ring

Step 5: Now check the ring size chart and check the corresponding value to the circumference you got in the step above.

Method 2:

Using ruler to find the diameter of the ring that you already own:

Things you need:

Ruler/Scale
Pre-owned ring that fits
Ring size diameter chart (Given below
Finger (Obviously)

Process:

Step 1: Take a ring you already own, measure the diameter of the ring with the ruler cm side

Step 2: Match the diameter you got corresponding to the size in the diameter chart. And here you go, you have found the perfect ring size.

Useful Tips:

There are some factors that should be taken into consideration before finalizing the size of the ring you want to buy, and those are mentioned below. But one thing to keep in mind is that when it comes about getting a ring as a gift for your friend, always go on the large side as it’s easier to size down a ring then to size up.

Average sizes:

Women: The average ring size range for women is between 5 and 7 (US).

Men: For men, the sizes commonly range from 8 to 10 (US).

However, if you have no other information available, it’s best to select between these ranges.

Temperature:

Our body reacts to temperatures and so does our fingers, and the size can vary depending on the weather. The cold winter will lower the finger size while the finger size expands in summer or when it’s humid. Therefore it’s better to avoid measuring finger size in any extreme case.
